September update!

As the weather begins to cool a bit (relatively speaking of course!) here in Arizona, we look back on a summer that was HOT (gee, that's something new). July set the record for the hottest average temperature, but it looks as though the worst is over until next year.

Business has been going well at Farm Bureau. My office is currently located near the intersection of I-10 and Elliot and I hope to find a new location closer to the house around the first of the year.

Meanwhile, there are many other things going on. Amy's work at The Little Gym of Gilbert took a new turn this year as the owners of her gym (and one that they owned in Scottsdale), sold their business to a new family (the transition was completed a few weeks ago in early April). Unfortunately, there have been some long-time employees that have recently left the gym and Amy is struggling with hours and other adjustments that have been necessary.

Kelly started as a Freshman at Hamilton High at the end of July. Tough to believe that she's in high school now! She is taking honors classes and doing well so far. In addition, she is in the high school choir and even has a spotlight performance coming up at the end of September.

She's went to New Jersey on June 16th for a month with family and friends. Steven and Amy joined her a few weeks later and they went to the beach and Dorney Park while they were there.

Amy and I went to Las Vegas in early July on a trip that I won through life insurance sales at Farm Bureau. It was the first time either of us had been to Vegas (and you know what they say, "What happens in Vegas...") - we stayed at the New York New York hotel and had a fabulous time. As soon as I can update some photo software, there will be pictures available.

Steven, Brady, and Nikolai joined (and recently finished!) the Chandler YMCA basketball program. It was an recreational league, and kids seemed to learn a lot in the process, winning a few games along the way. Earlier in the year, Steven, Andrew and Nikolai were on the same basketball team. Nik's mother, Amanda, and I were involved in coaching the kids in a tough season. They went 1-7, but they all seemed to have fun and certainly played better by the end of the season.

Some other news, Tracey and Rod Granger were able to visit with us for a few days in early March (pics here). We took the requisite trip to Tortilla Flat (one of our favorite spots) and had a nice (albeit short) visit with them.
